1931 Riley Alpine 14/6 Fabric Saloon 

The six cylinder Riley models first appeared in 1929, with the engine being essentially a Nine with two additional cylinders . Initially the models catalogued included the Deauville, Stelvio and Alpine - the latter being available in both tourer and saloon versions, with the earlier saloons having fabric coachwork. The new models attracted much attention, with Sir Malcolm Campbell being highly impressed by the performance which he considered the equal to many cars of 20hp.

We are pleased to offer here a splendid example of the Alpine saloon with fabric coachwork, this car having been the subject of restoration to a very high standard which was completed around 8 years ago. This included a full re-trim in light blue/grey hide, whilst the engine was rebuilt by marque expert Keith Pointing. 6000 miles have been covered since completion and this Alpine is a true joy to drive, with that feeling of power in reserve and a smooth 6 cylinder exhaust note.

The original London registration number remains on the car and all fittings and interior furnishings are correct. Only a small number of this model are recorded with The Riley Register so it will certainly appeal to those seeking a rare and distinctive sporting saloon from this era. With its elegant shape and twin rear windows - a popular Riley styling feature at this period, this is a motor car with considerable character.
