Sellers description
1930 Riley Nine MklV 'Red Wing' 4 Seat Tourer
First registered in Cornwall on 14th January 1930 and almost certainly of 1929 build, this unique Riley commenced life as a Mk IV two seater tourer with dickey seat.
In 1938, the original coachwork was removed and replaced with the body from an 11/40 ‘Redwing’ Riley of earlier vintage. Lightweight and most sporting in appearance, this car is extensively documented and very well known in Riley circles.
It was featured in ‘The Automobile’ magazine some years ago, as well as issue 190 of The Riley Register Bulletin.
Immacutely presented in its livery of grey with red wings and benefitting from a recent quality repaint, the car has red leather interior trim and good weather equipment, including a tonneau cover.
With its ‘V’ windscreen, marine-type scuttle vents and other period accoutrements, the Riley is a delightful and well proportioned motor car of immense charm and character. Currently fitted with a single SU Carburetor, the car would be eligible for VSCC Light Car events.
It drives very well and feels reassuringly taut and precise on the road.
A considerable file of paperwork and information is included. There is a video on our website.
