This fine example of the desirable and rare 1908 ‘BI’ Model has had a largely unknown early history. The car was stored after WW1 and the history file shows that it resurfaced in 1975. It’s condition remained incredibly original so it is likely the car received very little use across many decades. Within a huge history file, a video file shows the car being exhumed from its mausoleum in 1976. The new owner of the car was fastidious in maintaining originality and this example is surely one of the most original, complete De Dion Bouton cars surviving. 

Since 1975, the previous two owners of the car have maintained the car sympathetically and ensured that it’s originality has been preserved. They both recorded every drive they undertook in the car over 13,000 miles in a log that is present in the history file. This log is a fantastic testament to both the car and its ownership as it describes how the car was running and what was done to improve it. 

CD7542 has completed dozens of Veteran Car Club events, trips back to France and other car shows and is described as in good running order. The car is still carrying its original coachwork, has a unique history file and has been used in the place of a modern car in recent times, a testament to its reliability.
