The fascination with the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL – from childhood dream to vocation

When the young Klaus Kienle saw a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing for the first time, he was seized by a fascination that never left him since. After learning his trade as a car mechanic in the Mercedes-Benz branch office in Stuttgart and completing his examination to become a master craftsman, he worked his way up to become the head of the major repairs and special vehicles department – and went on to found his own company, Kienle Automobiltechnik. With his profound technical knowledge, Swabian diligence and healthy entrepreneurial spirit, he has developed his family company – working with his sons Alexander and Marc since the early 2000s – into the leading restoration company for classic Mercedes-Benz cars.
