A manual Porsche 928 S is a rare find, offering the perfect mix of GT comfort and analog driving, these 4.7 litre V8 powered, front engined, transaxle cars give the perfect 50:50 weight distribution, delivering 300 bhp they’d get you to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. But whilst Porsche’s first V8 production engine was well received, the radical re-style was too big a leap for many Porsche customers and although many thought the 928 was the future of Porsche, the 911 would eventually outlive it.

Porsche supplied 294 S & S2’s to the UK in 1982 and only 37 had manual gearboxes, fast forward to present day and the DVLA reports just 25 registered 928’s and only 11 of those are on the road. It’s highly likely that this is the only example, in this fantastic colour combination, with a manual gearbox in the UK.

Any 928 with a 5-speed manual gearbox is hard to find but one in the highly desirable Moss Green Metallic with a Mint Green interior is nigh on impossible to come by.

Recently discovered after a period in dry storage, it offers a superb opportunity to recommission and restore a highly desirable and collectable Porsche.

The vendor reports that the car rolls freely, starts on the key with a new battery, moves under its own steam and stops.To return to the road it would be wise to assume it will need a full mechanical, gearbox/clutch and brake overhaul, an electrical recommission as well restoration works to the body and interior. Whilst the chassis has not been inspected professionally a visual inspection reports it to appear in good order (photographs and videos are provided). The interior presents in fairly good order, the dash is in good shape with some areas of the seating that need attention, repair to the drivers bolster being a must.

We believe returning this rare and highly collectible car to the road would be a hugely worthwhile project and while values of 928’s have begun to rise, a financially rewarding one.
