Manufactured on the 28th June 1971 as part of the last batch of nine Mk 3 Cooper S models, this is a very special Mini indeed and a must for any Mini collector.

The Cooper S Mk 3 Register have confirmed it is the third from last chassis number, the last being 458987. The commission number is the 6th from last although commission numbers cannot be cross referenced.

Having undertaken extensive research, the Register have recently confirmed that they understand this example to be the last UK registered genuine factory built Mk 3 Cooper S that they are aware of.

Finished in blaze with dark navy trim, the Mini presents superbly and the period Webasto sunroof only enhances the appeal of this super little car. The paintwork is shiny and the chromework good with little evidence of tarnishing.

The interior is unspoilt and all the better for it. There is an aftermarket rev counter fitted but this is completely in keeping with the sporting nature of the S model. The correct 130 mph speedo also features.

The 10” steel wheels are fitted with matching Yokohama tyres, which provide plenty of grip.

The low mileage appears to be correct based on previous MOT certificates.

We understand the Mini underwent a full restoration in 1988/9, apparently using genuine BMC panels. At the same time the engine was rebuilt, as was the gearbox. Unfortunately, we have no bills or invoices for the work undertaken. The Mini has done minimal miles since the restoration and, as a consequence, it runs and drives very well. The gear change is very precise and the 1275 engine sounds strong.

There are a few bills and invoices on file for work undertaken over the years including £115.84 spent to partially recommission the Mini following a period of storage at the vendor’s property.

HPi clear and offered with V5C plus two sets of keys.

Overall, an exciting and one off opportunity to purchase a very special Mk3 Mini Cooper S.
