Originally registered in Germany (German logbook on file) this 1970 flat screen Beetle was brought into the UK during 2012. It was stripped back to a bare shell and separated from its chassis. Extensive restoration then took place and conversion to Right Hand Drive was completed.

`New` Is a word that will be used many times during this description, I apologise for the repetition but facts are facts.

The original engine was replaced by a 1600cc unit with Weber carburettor. More recently the car has been fitted with Powerspark electronic ignition, Bosch ‘blue’ coil, new spark plugs and HT leads. The engine is coupled to a ‘Freeway Flyer’ gearbox with an EMPI gearshift. Clutch cable and guides just replaced.

All new brake discs, calipers, brake lines and pads fitted, front and back. New shock absorbers all round. SSP Porsche 914 alloy wheels with Toyo tyres on each corner.

A new dark brown mohair hood was fitted in 2021 (receipt in file). Inside, the beetle has had new seat covers, new carpet, a Flat 4 wood and alloy steering wheel, a retro style DAB radio Pioneer speakers and USB socket, we think the radio may have Bluetooth but can’t confirm. Also fitted are four inertia seat belts and more modern seat runners.

In the front we have a new fuel tank, new spare wheel with matching Toyo tyre, evidence of much rewiring including fuse boards and relays. A front strut brace is fitted and a custom made storage area covers all of the above.

New rubber seals fitted all round, new running boards.

Finished in VW Hellas Gold, the paintwork apparently cost in the region of £8,000 and is in terrific shape with only a few minor blemishes around the back edges of the boot lid.

With the superb restoration work and subtle performance and cosmetic modifications that have been undertaken this Beetle is one of the most attention-grabbing vehicles on offer.

Historic vehicle status so MOT and tax exempt.
