Sellers description
1964 Jaguar E Type 3.8 Series I
Introduced at the Geneva motor show in 1961 the Jaguar E type immediately became the car to be owned by the rich and famous of the Hollywood set. It was always destined to become a collectors item and was described in period by Enzo Ferrari as the most beautiful motor car ever produced. Using the well tried and tested XK twin overhead camshaft engine, increased from 3400cc to 3800cc the E type produced 265bhp with 240lbs of torque that resulted in a 0-60 time of just 6.4 seconds which in 1961 were outstanding figures. This 1964 Jaguar E type 3.8 series one roadster is finished in original Carmen Red with original black hide interior and black mohair soft top. Undoubtedly one of the very best early E types we have had the pleasure of marketing and the attention to the detail of this restoration is exemplary. It comes with Jaguar Heritage certificate which confirms that it still bares its original Coventry registration number 8517 WK. Equipped with its original 4 speed Moss gearbox, a period Motorola radio and sitting on perfect chrome wire wheels shod with original pattern Dunlop radial SP tyres. With only 3600 miles since the restoration, the car performs extremely well and is ready for immediate use. Realistically priced for one in this condition at £129,950
