1959 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupe

Announced in May 1957 as successor to the XK140, the new XK150 was distinguished from the earlier model by the new one-piece windscreen and revised styling with higher wing lines and a more streamlined overall appearance. Initially only available as a fixed head coupe, a drophead version was to follow soon after. The 3.4 litre engine was similar to that of the earlier car, however a new ‘B’ Type cylinder head increased power to 180 bhp. 

The 1959 XK150 we offer here has formed part of a local collection in recent years. It was the subject of substantial restoration work by specialists some years ago, having been professionally converted from a fixed head coupe, using all Jaguar panels and parts back in the 1980’s. No expense would seem to have been spared in maintaining the car to a high standard during recent years, as can be seen by the large number of bills - all from acknowledged specialists - which are included in the file.

Finished in British racing Green, this XK150 has the favoured manual gearbox with overdrive and has benefitted from ‘fast road’ modifications to the engine, which was rebuilt by Sigma. Additional desirable upgrades include Coopercraft brakes, alternator, Kenlowe fan and the optional walnut dashboard. The XJS reclining seats are also particularly comfortable.

In summary, a very good, well maintained example of this iconic Jaguar that is a true pleasure to drive. Also supplied is a Heritage Certificate, original Driver’s Handbook and Workshop Manual.
