MG Midget Black Edition

The MG Midget is a small sports car that was produced by MG from 1961 to 1980. The MG Midget is not a particularly fast car by modern standards. It was designed to be a small, lightweight sports car, and as such, it was not intended to be a high-performance vehicle.

The Black Edition was a special limited edition of the MG Midget just 500 cars that were released in 1980. It featured a number of cosmetic changes and upgrades over the standard model, including black paint, black wheels, and black trim. The 1980 MG Midget Black Edition was powered by a 1.5 liter inline-four engine which produced a maximum of 60 horsepower. and was available with either a manual or automatic transmission. This would have been considered a reasonable amount of power for a small sports car in the 1960s and 1970s, but by modern standards, it would be considered relatively slow. The MG Midget has a top speed of around 90-95 mph, which is not particularly fast compared to many modern cars. However, it was still able to provide an enjoyable driving experience thanks to its agile handling and sporty character.

It was a popular model at the time and is now a sought-after classic car. Whether or not an MG Midget is a good investment depends on a number of factors, including the condition of the specific car and the current market demand for classic cars. Some people collect classic cars as a hobby and are willing to pay a premium for a well-preserved example of a specific car, maybe a car they r ember from their youth, which they couldn’t afford until they reached their later years. Other classic car buyers view classic automobiles strictly as an investment and look for cars that have the potential to appreciate in value over time.

If you are considering purchasing an MG Midget as an investment, it may be helpful to do some research on the current market for classic cars and to speak with experts or enthusiasts who can provide guidance on which models are likely to be the most valuable. There MG Clubs and Social Media Groups where you can speak to like minded buyers and owners. It's also important to keep in mind that, like any investment, there is no guarantee that the value of a classic car will increase, and it's possible that it could decrease in value.

Things to look out for when buying an MG Midget.

Check the car thoroughly for rust, crucially the rear bulkhead where the springs attach, the floor, the rear arches< the sills, and inner sills. If you’re prepared to restore a car, then the MG Midget is a fairly good choice, all the panels are available, so a rusty Midget might be worth buying if you have the finance and skills required.
