1989 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL
Johnny Marr's personal car with low owners and 12 months MOT

 This SL has been Johnny Marr’s faithful companion ever since 1992. We understand no expense has been spared on its upkeep - so much so that in 1995 a new engine was fitted by Mercedes when the old unit expired. Unusual for an SL admittedly! The service book makes mention of this. The new engine was fitted at 43,000 miles, meaning the replacement engine has covered just over 54,000 miles.

We don’t have much additional paperwork with the SL, although there is an invoice in 2017 for just over £6,000 spent which included a service, new tyres, new exhaust, brake inspection, attention to corrosion, plus sundries. The car was serviced again in 2022 (invoice in file).

The paintwork is clean and tidy - there are a few scratches on the boot lid and some very minor signs of corrosion in the rear arches, but other than that it presents very nicely. The interior boasts leather seats and is in very good condition overall. The car also has rear seats fitted - a useful extra. There is an aftermarket Kenwood stereo fitted, with a graphic equaliser in the glove box, expensive door speakers and an additional amp and sub-woofer in the boot. Johnny has signed the passenger side sun visor - a nice touch.

The car was driven to our premises without fuss some 20 miles and comes complete with a matching colour coded hardtop (with stand).

The V5C is in the name of Johnny Marr, and the old V5 shows Bernard Sumner as the previous owner. We also have a spare key with the car plus the service book (11 stamps), owner’s manual, Kenwood guide, Workshop directory, Eagle alarm guide (damaged) and some previous tax discs.
