  • UK registered right hand drive
  • 5 speed manual petrol
  • Low Mileage

BMW M5 E28 1987 offered for sale, a UK registered right hand drive 5 speed manual petrol with low mileage.

The M5 is unmistakably one of the most iconic saloon vehicles giving a perfect blend of sporting capabilities and luxury. Powered by a 3.5 litre-six engine, the M5 delivers 282bhp, making it the fastest production saloon at its launch. It quickly developed a reputation of being the most capable car on sale, especially when only 2,241 units were made, making it amongst the rarest regular production BMW Motorsport cars. The car didn't just stop at the engine bay though, it featured upgrades to improve the car's handling, shocking to even today’s standards.

This M5 has not been driven properly for 15 years and is now itching for a new owner to get her back to her former glory. She has had 3 former keepers, the current owner has had her since 1998 and in all of that time she has only covered 82,000 miles. The vendor tells us that the engine has been turned over every 3 months with the plugs out and with plug bungs in the holes to stop dirt getting in. As well as this, the vendor tells us the engine oil has been changed every 3,000 miles since the second owner brought it in 1990, with 48k miles with Castrol RS full synthetic oil showing the colour of the oil is the sa,e colour going in as it comes out, meaning the engine internal condition is good. The gearbox and differential oil was said to be last changed at 75k miles. She needs work on the brakes, new fuel etc. However, it has had a new fuel tank and a couple of other bits. In fact it seems that it is only some mechanical work and a good clean that needs doing. The bodywork in the main looks to be good, with a scab on the seal from jacking and bubbling around the screen, a few bits of rust by the boot of the car, a little bit by the back window and on the back bumper, and the inside doesn't look too bad. All the leather upholstery looks intact and the seats still look useable, just needing a good clean. In terms of history, the vehicle has service history from 1987-90, up to 44k miles, then from 1991-1996 there is no history. However, it does have the last 3 MOT's from 71k miles in 1995 to 1998 at 79k miles. Due to being in storage for so long, the car does not run and will need work to get her back up and running. The car doesnt look terrible for its age and with the right owner, could be done up to her full potential. There is 1 key with the car, a BMW tool kit, wheel centre caps x4, locking wheel nuts x2, and a torch from the glove box. The new owner will need to get some plates made up for the car.

The M5 represents a truly special driving experience and is a special car to have - if you can find one.

As with all vehicles, we encourage potential buyers to view the vehicle in person and make their own judgement. The team here at Barons, Marchwood, Southampton, will be happy to help and answer questions you may have.
