A great opportunity to acquire a lovely and well cared for Austin Metro Vanden Plas.
This particular example has only covered 2000 miles in the past five years and appears to have been treasured, having been in display at a museum at some stage during its life.
The Austin Metro was introduced in October 1980 with the Vanden Plas being added to the range in April 1982. Being a manual version, rather than the slower automatic, it is equipped with an MG Metro engine, which provides the car with plenty of get up and go !
Externally the Vanden Plas benefits from bronze tinted glass, laminated windscreen, bright inserts to the front and rear screen rubbers, colour coded wrap around bumpers, bright finished front grille surround, bright finished door and tailgate handles twin door mirrors, coachlines with 'VP' motifs on each rear wing, glass tilting/removeable sunroof, central locking and electric front windows. This example also boasts some natty 13 inch Mg Metro alloys – the originals would have been metric sized wheels and tyres are no longer available – so this is a sensible upgrade.
The Metro also boasts an aftermarket exhaust which gives the car a more sporty noise – although there is an original back box in the car plus a scissor jack and some Austin Rover mud flaps.
Internally the Vanden Plas received upgraded cloth interior, front headrest pads and rear armrests, a leather steering wheel, 60/40 split folding rear seat, deep cut-pile carpets, cloth headlining and wood door capping's. Instrumentation includes a rev counter and overhead digital clock.
There are lots of bills on file for work and parts purchased for the Metro going back to 2003, plus pictures of when the car was restored – we believe in 2016 /17. This included a full engine rebuild we understand.
