- Great car for shows
Here we have an opportunity to buy yourself a little piece of British motoring history that probably everybody can relate to or tell a story about - the Austin Maxi. The car that possibly changed the way we thought about family cars with a hatchback rather than the traditional estate cars of the time, and one that was way ahead of its time. A little-known fact about the Maxi is that it was the first British family segment car that had a 5-speed gearbox, who knew?
This example is finished in Biege with brown velour trim and tan carpets. The HPi tells us that it may have been grey at some point and had a colour change, but if it has, it has been done well. For a car that is 45 years old, it looks rather well and tidy. The odometer is only showing 54,000 miles, although we have no way of knowing if that is correct or not but it could be, so please have a look and make up your own mind.
A member of the Maxi Owner’s Club, it comes with its original instruction and operating books along with original sales information, which is nice to have. It even has an existing MOT until March 2025 even though it is exempt, which gives you an indication that it has been cared for throughout its current 14-year ownership. This is ideal for the show season and would be superb at the Festival of the Unexceptional, and who knows it might even win a prize.
