This is a very nice-looking Mercedes CE Coupe with the better 280 engine and automatic gearbox - a great combination and the more desirable one to have. It is very much in period being finished in cream with a beautiful brown interior, very 1970s and all the better for it. The condition of the paintwork is rather good, there is the odd mark here and there which is to be expected, but nothing major at all. The interior is stunning, both in its colour and condition, with the seats being cloth / vinyl and in great condition as are the carpets and door cards. The colour combination makes this a very good looking example and a great place to be sat. This is a really cool and classy car, and a combination you don’t see very often.
The specification would appear to be factory with an electric sunroof, great chromework and the very important “Mexican Hat” style alloys - a must for any classic Mercedes of that era. It sits very well and has great panel fit for its age, remember it’s 47 years old which is amazing when you look at it.
The Mercedes comes with a selection of invoices and receipts, a small amount of older MOTs as it is now exempt, and its spare keys. The vendor has kindly informed us that it was serviced about a year ago and has done very little miles since. He changed the oil, filter, plug leads, plugs and gave it a new battery and new tyres. He also tells us that the exhaust has a rattle on it so if he was keeping the car he would replace it, the speedo sometimes doesn’t work but he believes it needs a new cable, and the headlamp washers don’t work. We admire his honesty, and by his own admission there are probably a few other things needed too. All that said, it is still a great looking example and the things to do are no more than you would expect on a car of this age.
The best thing about this Mercedes is that the vendor has opted to sell at no reserve, so someone may find themselves with a great car for a whole lot less than they would expect to pay for it.
