Rare first generation Hi-Ace

An increasingly rare sight on UK roads today, this first-generation Toyota HiAce offers vintage charm and plenty of potential as a unique retro camper. Many of these early examples were later exported to Africa and the Middle East, making survivors like this a true find.

Powered by the 1.6-litre inline-four petrol engine, regarded as the most desirable choice at launch, this HiAce runs and drives as it should.

Showing just 32,452 miles, it comes with a strong history file including the original service book with seven stamps (the last at 25,498 miles), original owner’s manual, Haynes manual, and an impressive set of 26 paper MOT certificates, the most recent performed at 31,954.

The exterior displays some surface-level rust spots around the seams, and the driving compartment seats have a few tears, but the caravan interior presents well for it's age, capturing that unmistakable 1970s style. The frame appears solid for and looks good underneath.

Fitted with an extendable roof, which we haven’t raised ourselves, and a fridge inside the van offers a fantastic base for light recommissioning or personal customisation.
