It’s not often that a very rare car like this comes along, but would you believe we have 2 of them - how good is that? This Audi 100 S Coupe, finished in orange with a black vinyl roof and cream cloth interior, has a very interesting history so the vendor tells us. It was the Audi UK demonstrator car and was collected from the Geneva Motor Show by the Audi UK Sales Manager and driven back to England. It was allegedly built for that purpose, hence it is a RHD built example. The service book, along with the book pack, states that it was originally PDI’d in Germany by Audi NSU Auto Union as they were then called. It also has a service stamp from Geneva on 26/6/1973 when it had covered 627 miles, so this all makes sense and probably is the true journey of the Audi. Either way, it is still a great car and very rare.

The condition is OK but it would benefit from a recommission to make it perfect. Although the vendor has changed the plugs and put new plug leads on, it does run rather nice. The interior needs the driver’s seat retrimming, as you would expect, and a general tidy up, but it is all there. The Audi retains its original wheel trims and radio, and the chromework is in good order.

The paperwork is rather special with the aforementioned handbook pack and service book, containing 8 stamps, along with a whole host of invoices and receipts going back over many years, old MOTs, some warranty details and a copy of an order form from when it was sold at some point way back when. There is even details from the Audi 100 Owner’s Club which, due to how many cars there are left, won’t have many members now. If you are wanting a very stylish and cool German Coupe from the 1970s, then this has to be the car for you. Or if you a serious car collector, chances are you won’t have one of these.
