We are delighted to offer this striking BMW 2002 Tii in Inka Orange with black interior. A rare UK, right hand drive example, it has the earlier round rear lights and a chrome grille. First registered in the UK on 15th February 1972 and having only 4 previous owners, the previous owner bought the BMW as a project around 2013 and undertook a restoration over the course of several years. Originally beige, the car had a complete bare-metal strip down and all rusted panels cut out and replaced. It was then repainted in the period (and far more vibrant) BMW Inka Orange. This has been done to a high standard with no signs of the original colour in the usual areas under the bonnet etc. The chrome presents well and we are informed the bumpers were fully stripped and re-chromed using a triple plate system. The interior has been restored to original specification with reupholstered seats, new carpets and roof lining. The dashboard appears free from cracking.

Mechanically, we are advised that the engine was rebuilt with a refurbished head, new bearings and rings, new radiator hoses, fuel pump, cold start and battery, and the Kugelfisher injection pump and injectors stripped, rebuilt and bench-flow tested by Lucas Engineering. The gearbox is the original 4-speed with replacement clutch, master cylinder and slave cylinder. The brakes have reportedly all been stripped and rebuilt using new master cylinder, calipers, pads, discs, drums, shoes, lines, shock absorbers, suspension bushes, track rods, drop links and wheel bearings. It has been fitted with period 13” Mahle “bottle top” wheels with the correct 2002 offset, shod with a matching set of 175/70 13 Michelin tyres.

The restoration was completed in 2019 and few miles have been undertaken since then. The quality of the car is a testament to how BMW built them back in the day and the people who keep these cars alive for us all to enjoy now and in the future. The car comes with V5c, manual and extensive file of invoices (mainly parts) totalling in the region of £7,700.
