The Daimler V8-250, produced between 1962 and 1969, was a luxury saloon that combined British elegance with performance. Introduced by Daimler as a more refined variant of the Jaguar Mark 2, it featured a 2.5-litre V8 engine designed by Edward Turner, known for its smoothness and spirited performance. The 250 V8 stood out with its fluted grille, a hallmark of Daimler styling, and luxurious interiors featuring high-quality wood and leather. It was one of the first cars to successfully pair a compact design with an eight-cylinder engine, offering a unique driving experience that was both swift and composed. Although overshadowed by its Jaguar sibling, the 250 V8 became a niche favourite among enthusiasts who appreciated its distinctive character and craftsmanship.

Offered here is a 1969 Daimler V8 250 presented in opalescent blue with blue leather interior trim. This example has been in current ownership since 2014 and is a former multiple show winner.

The Daimler comes with a bundle of invoices for parts and maintenance work and a spare parts catalogue. The vendor is a true Jaguar / Daimler enthusiast and, as such, it has been cherished since he purchased it in 2014. Enjoyed and taken to many shows during his ownership, picking up various awards along the way.

It appears overtime, the paintwork has suffered due to it being stored outside. The bottom of the door and the top of the front wings will require attention shortly, and there is a large scratch on one of the doors. The wires versus steels debate will run and run, but there’s no doubt that the wires look super on this example. The interior is smart and tidy, the wood is good, the seats clean and free from any obvious damage although they are creased. There are some parts in the boot.

When it comes to the Mark 2, the big-engined Jaguars are always in demand but are expensive, while some find the 2.4 a little underpowered. That makes the Daimler with its creamy, little V8 a potential sweet spot in the range, being spritely enough but, generally, commanding less money than its Jaguar siblings. This very useable example is sensibly reserved and presents a rather canny and inexpensive way into Jaguar / Daimler’s handsome saloon.
