1966 Aston Martin DB5

1966 Aston Martin DB5 finished in Deep Navy blue with fresh black hide interior. Just out from a £20,000 cosmetic upgrade with much of the interior trim having been replaced. This has included new Wilton carpet throughout, a repainted dash facia with all new leather to the top of the dash and dash roll. It has also been treated to a complete new headlining and a new rear parcel shelf replacing what was the original material, now 57 years old. The painted wire wheels have been replaced with new Chrome wire wheels and fitted with Avon Turbospeed radial tyres. Combined with the Harvey Bailey handling kit and a degree of negative camber, the road holding is now superb. Probably one of the very last DB5‘s to be registered, this excellent example has been owned by the current owner for nearly 30 years and has only once been previously advertised prior to the recent improvements being carried out. During his ownership, maintenance of the car has been entrusted to Nigel Barker at Davron Engineering and body improvements have been by Mitchells Coachworks. It has not been a cosseted garage queen but has been regularly used and impeccably maintained throughout. I first drove this excellent DB5 about 2 years ago and was instantly impressed by the way in which it performed and it became immediately obvious that the engine has increased power compared to a standard DB5,  this being derived from a slightly increased cylinder capacity to just below 4200cc. The five speed ZF manual transmission has a smooth operation and is working perfectly. This particular DB5 is a joy to drive largely due to its superb road holding and with the recent cosmetic improvements is certainly not overpriced and well worth viewing at £595,000.
