The Jaguar Mark IX (9) is a four-door luxury saloon announced 8 October 1958 and produced by Jaguar between 1958 and 1961. It was generally similar to the Mark VIII (8) it replaced, but had a larger, more powerful 3.8 litre engine, 4-wheel disc brakes, and power assisted recirculating ball steering among its mechanical improvements.
This lovely unspoiled example comes to us from a deceased estate and as such has not been on the road for approximately 12 months.
Finished in Cornish Grey over Mist Grey with red leather interior, it was manufactured in early November 1959 before being registered for the road on the 1st January 1960 in the name of the first owner, Bailey and Stride Limited.
We understand that the Jaguar lived in Norway at some stage (which may explain the Norsk Jaguar Klubb badge at the front of the car) before being repatriated back to UK and the deceased vendor bought the car in 2018 for £23250 from Jeremy Wade (Classic car specialist).
We understand some of the work completed since 2018 is as follows :
- Coopercraft front and rear calipers
- Bushes replaced
- Engine chrome dome nuts replaced
- Steering pump drive spindle remade
- Leather seats repaired
There are also other invoices on file for parts purchased by the deceased vendor during his ownership.
Exterior wise, there is some micro blistering on the exterior and the chromework is a little pitted but the overall effect of the 2 tone paintwork is very pleasing. The interior is clean and tidy and presents very well with only minimal signs of use given then age of the car. A manual sunroof is also present which is a lovely feature.
Overall, a very attractive example of the marque ripe for some sensitive recommissioning.
