This Mk IX was originally distributed by Attwoods Garage of Stafford and the first owner was E Nicklin & Son Ltd of Willenhall. In 1962, ownership passed to Kenneth Mills, who used the motor car sparingly and then stowed it in the garage at 34000 miles. In 1998, Terence Spinks of Walsall rescued the Mk IX from the garage where it had been well preserved, carried out a brake overhaul, fitted new batteries, and then sold the motor car in 2003 at just under 36000 miles to Sir Anthony Jolliffe, former Mayor of London. We understand that the Jaguar was resprayed in that ownership and together with other work including a conversion to unleaded fuel, totalled some £20000. A mahogany replica of the motor car was also commissioned by Sir Anthony, which still remains with the motor car today. Ownership changed in 2006 and then again in 2009 with very few miles covered in the intervening years. We understand that electronic ignition was installed in the latter ownership, and the batteries were upgraded to 12 volt.

The Mk IX has been featured in various club and national magazines, copies of which are included in the history file.

In 2020, the high pressure power steering hose was replaced, and an electric cooling fan kit and new wing mirrors were fitted. New batteries were installed in 2021. The current mileage of 42,460 is thought to be accurate.

The vendor has had a new set of carpets fitted in September this year, we understand that the exhaust mountings were also renewed and the motor car passed an MOT test in October.

We understand that mechanically, the Jaguar is well maintained and in good order. There is some evidence of paintwork micro-blisters and the brightwork is not perfect, but the motor car is described by the vendor as good and straight. The door cappings and dashboard are in lovely order, the rear picnic tables operate and are in nice condition, the upholstery appears to be original, as does the boot lining.

The history file contains an original service manual, handbook, list of distributors etc, together with numerous invoices, MOT test certificates dating from 1986, a Jaguar Heritage Trust dating certificate, the aforementioned magazines, extensive ownership history, spare parts catalogues and the V5C registration certificate. Also supplied is the lovely handmade model of this motor car.
