1958 MGA Roadster – (1950cc Engine & 5 Speed Gear Box)

With its curvaceous styling, rugged engine and drivetrain and excellent road manners, it is easy to see why the MGA has endured. Produced from 1955 to 1962, as with previous MGs, the bulk of production went for export, particularly to North America.

The MGA we offer here is one such example; it returned from the United States during the late 1980’s and underwent a total restoration from the bare chassis. To original specification.

Some years later the car was acquired by a gentleman for use in France at his home near Avignon. The original 1500cc engine was considered rather underpowered for the intended trips over the mountains to Italy, so a number of modifications were carried out.

These included the fitment of an MGB engine bored to 1950cc and modified to 'fast road' specification, along with a new radiator and header tank, electric cooling fan, MGB front disc brakes, updated suspension, 72 spoke wheels and a five-speed gearbox conversion.

This resulted in an excellent car, which would prove ideal on longer tours as well as being more than capable of holding its own in modern traffic.

In the care of the present owner for the past six years, this MGA has been very carefully maintained and would be ideal for someone seeking an MGA with the ability to undertake long distance rallies and events in its stride with ease.

Complete with good weather equipment and tonneau cover, the car has a photographic album showing the restoration, plus numerous bills etc and a workshop manual.
