  • Detailed service and race history

This fascinating MGA Coupe was first registered on 1/4/1958 to a Mrs E.P. Hally of Alloa, Scotland who kept the car for a number of years. It would then appear to have spent a lot of its life in Lancashire. It is quite charming that the car comes with a “buff” logbook and details of a lot of the previous owners and even a petrol ration book from the day. Lovely!

Today the car is now in a very high rally specification with a great racing history which is confirmed with an array of FIA paperwork, competition stickers on the car, photographs showing it in various parts of the world in competition and a collection of notes showing different set ups for the car during its race history. The car is very well known in the historic rally world due to its competition history and success. The specification is as you would wish for from a competition car with full dashboard setup, lap counter, Cobra race seats in green to match the exterior colour, spotlights front and rear, boot mounted spare wheel, LUKE full harness seat belts and fire extinguisher, the list goes on. The MGA also comes with a massive folder of instructions of how to set it up, a complete and detailed parts catalogue and what appears to be the original style MGA owner’s manual and a wonderful book written by A.I. Sargent called “A brief guide to MGA restoration”. It is anything but brief, it is very well detailed and a must for any MGA owner. The car even has a list of MGA specialists who have worked on this car over the years with their contact details. Amazing history!

We are indebted to the vendor for providing the following history:

“It was acquired by a Mr Aude in 1989 who was a garage owner and a keen rally driver and navigator who embarked on a restoration and engine rebuild including giving the car an alternator, MGB disc brakes to the front, twin speed wipers and a host of period cockpit aids. It was then FIA registered and vigorously campaigned in major UK and Continental rallies until it was sold to a Mr West who continued to participate in rallies. It was also fitted with a replacement engine which was built by Paul Inch Engine Services where it got lumenition ignition, hi-torque starter, twin fuel pumps, oil cooler, alloy radiator, electric fan, gearbox rebuild and a spare wheel carrier. It then continued to compete in rallies and events. The car was then bought by the previous owner and was readied for more events by George Reid Tuning and just recently by renowned MGA expert Bob West of Pontefract. It then competed in the Rally of Bridges and the Fellsman Rally. In July 2022 the car was prepared for MOT by Bob West, even though it is exempt. This work included track rod ends, front springs, new discs and pads, new rear drums, back plates, wheel bearings, cylinders and linings and the new MOT.”

In conclusion, we have a great car with a wonderful history that has been successful and is all ready to go again and be enjoyed with little or no expense.

It is also accompanied by the following spares:

Alloy boot lid in correct Island green paint

New carburettor heat shield
