Launched in 1935 the Morris Eight was instrumental in cementing Morris’ top spot in the British automotive industry throughout the 1930s. Compared to similarly priced cars of the period the Morris Eight was regarded as impressively equipped with a full set of instruments including a speedometer with a built in odometer, oil pressure and fuel level gauges as well as an ammeter. The car also featured electric window wipers rather than the traditional vacuum powered wipers of the period. With a relatively wide track and hydraulically operated eight inch drum breaks the Morris Eight also offered impressive performance for the era. This performance was best utilized in the convertible tourer which made up roughly 25,000 of the 164,102 Morris Eight’s produced.

We are pleased to offer this 1936 Morris Eight Tourer, which presents and drives well with what appear to be original style seats. The black finish compliments the dark tan interior very well. The Morris is also provided with side covers and appropriate weather gear for whichever style of British summer day may come, and is also standing on what appear to be a recent full set of Dunlop period-style tyres.

The file includes a collection of MOTs, including one dating back to 1965 which is a lovely piece of history to have, as well as a V5C and HPi. The previous owner has also provided a historic instruction book on the operation and maintenance of Morris Eights.

To the right owner this Morris could offer a delightful chance to experience the joys of the twilight years from ‘the golden age of motoring’.

If you want to come and see this charming example, you are welcome to do so at our purpose built facility in Cheshire. Just give us a call to make an appointment, we are sure you will appreciate the value of this quirky little Morris.
