Offered here is a superb 1936 Austin 12/4 Ascot presented in White over Brown with a charming and believed to be original Brown interior. First supplied to Willaim George Hughes of Leyton, Essex, who owned it for a remarkable 27 years. ‘CUW 303’ was originally Brown, and we assume it was changed to White over Brown during its restoration in c.2000.

This example is in superb condition and difficult to fault. The interior is believed to be original. The dashboard and wooden trim have a satisfying shine and appear as new. The carpets and headlining have been replaced in the past 20 years, and again, they are unmarked. Notes that came with the car when our vendor bought it in 2021 state that new wood floor has been fitted, new petrol pipes, brake mechanism checked and repaired as required, suspension checked, underneath painted black, new chromework, reconditioned starter motor and dynamo, and all lights working.

Outside, the panels are straight with no obvious sign of damage or corrosion. The paintwork has held up well over 25 years, and it has evidently been kept inside and dry stored since. The Austin swiftly fires up with a press of the button and idles sweetly. These are a very useable pre-war car to use, with standard driving configuration, an accelerator on the right, and a 4-speed standard gearbox that has full synchromesh.

A beautiful example, one of the best we have seen. On the button and ready to use and enjoy for the coming show season.
