Gavin McGuire / VETERAN

1934 Austin Seven Type 65 North Yorkshire, United Kingdom

Trade : £18,500

Sellers description

We are very pleased to offer for sale this fabulous little car with a huge history – there are, in fact, two very large files of highly detailed records of the history of the car and of its long restoration - it will take you many hours to read through these properly.  However, in a nutshell, the car was purchased by the present owner in 1962 as a full restoration project and it has taken until now to complete.  The result is a truly delightful example of the Austin Type 65.  Every aspect of the car has been properly sorted, rebuilt or renewed as necessary, including replacement chassis (the original had been damaged in an accident back in the early 1960s).  The bodywork has been completely rebuilt, retaining as much of the original as possible, and it has been well finished in the original colour of Primrose Yellow.  The mechanics have all been rebuilt including a fully rebuilt 2-bearing engine (not the original sports engine, this is long gone), well worked on by Vince Leek, and including Phoenix crank, ‘high lift’ cam shaft, Raeburn deep sump, special pistons etc.  Other tuning parts include Dante manifold, Supaloy head, and down draught Zenith carb.  The upholstery was all renewed as was the quality canvas hood and tonneau, these are all in excellent condition.  The tyres all round are nearly new, and the wheels refurbished.  The car starts well and drives as it should with good performance and nice clutch and brakes.  Good 4-speed gearbox.  This little gem also comes with lovely original tools, including tyre pump, wheel brace and jack.  The aforementioned extensive history files include detailed drawings of work completed, photographs of the restoration, a continuation log book dating back to 1960, handbook, spare parts book, and V5C.

Serious enquiries only, please.
