Sellers description

1931 Rolls Royce 25/30 Park Ward Limousine

From long-term ownership; up and running after a period in storage; a lovely old thing crying out for regular use; superb interior Henry Royce had amongst his many obsessions, a real concern about the ever-increasing weight of the coachwork that found its way onto his beautiful chassis’. The delightful and delicate Rolls 20 was succeeded in 1929 by the altogether more robust 20/25 for this very reason. Sharing many components with the similarly sized Derby Bentley 3 1/2-litre, it too was further upgraded in 1936 when the bore of the engine was increased to 3 ½-inches giving 4,257cc and renamed the 25/30. This fine 1937 Park Ward bodied 25/30 Limousine comes to us from a deceased estate and has clearly been much loved over the years. Showing just three owners on the V5C, it was originally sold through Claud Hamilton Ltd in Aberdeen and delivered to Mrs Smith of Pitcaple. The factory build record shows that the chassis left Crewe on 7th January 1937 and was delivered to Park Ward by road – which must have been a chilly drive!

Mrs Smith chose closed Limousine coachwork with a glass division, trimmed in dark fawn cloth in the rear - the chauffeur getting hard-wearing leather upholstery up front. Sundries included two cloth sunvisors, recessed ‘companions’ in the rear quarters, rope pulls, mohair mats, blinds to quarters, black ace wheel discs, bumpers front and rear and a fire extinguisher. Most, if not all (maybe not the fire extinguisher) of which are still present and correct. Offered in fine condition, it has recently been recommissioned and has been seen running and driving around our site since its arrival. The bodywork appears very sound and the interior is superb, the cloth seating and sundry ammeneties offering a very high degree of comfort and luxury.

Complete with its correct Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, this fine Limousine looks like a spectacular car offered at a very realistic price guide. Here is your chance to sample Rolls-Royce quality on a hatchback income.
