Sellers description
1931 Lancia Dilambda
We have here an historically important and spectacular survivor in original and unchanged condition. An expensive car of obviously high quality It is recorded that only approximately 1104 of these vehicles were produced of which only a handful survive today. The history of this car can be traced back many decades through Registration Papers and Public licences to 1939 and to the esteemed Don Emilio Borne Greber of Tudela of the Province of Zaragoza who is believed to have been an ecclesiastical associate with Tudela and Pamplona at that time and whom owned the car for the first 45 years of its life in his ecclesiastical role and up to 1976. Herein we have some survived documentation of Historic Qualification during those years. One would assume that he was able to keep this vehicle in top condition during those vital years and the condition of the car is testament to that fact as thereafter she has largely been maintained inside in museum conditions. Thereafter, probably around 1976, she passed through the hands of Vintage car collector Snr Miguel Burgos of Spanish fame who was very active in showing his cars and who competed in many rallies and events in Spain. She then resided the Sodena Spanish State collection in the Navarre Motor Museum from 1995 to 2014. After that time, the current owner purchased the car which would appear to have not been touched, (other than profusely polished) for the previous 25 years. The condition of the car is testament to the solid structure of the car and the preservation of its original condition throughout 87 years of ownership in an arid climate. The model is an 8 cylinder V configuration displacing just under 4 litres. The Motor Sport report above describes perfectly the performance of this vehicle and its original engine. The coachwork is a delight to behold.
The most imposing elevation is the side on view with the ventilated front bonnet louvres, the long running boards and extended rear doors of this limousine body making it so effortless to climb into the front and rear quarters of this luxurious vehicle. The rear end is of perfect proportion and sportily houses the twin spare tyre well leaving the sides uninterrupted. It is a masterpiece of the coach builders Italianate artistic flair that lead the way for European design of this era. The bodywork takes the form of a closed in and partitioned drivers cockpit to the chauffeurs area which in turn is upholstered in buttoned beige velour, all in perfect and patinated order. The winding glass screen partition is in full working order and all of t§he windows and handles are of original splendour.
