This Austin 12 was manufactured at Longbridge at the height of Austin's success. It was the baby Seven that had saved the company from bankruptcy, but the trusty 12 continued right through, gaining in popularity thanks to the comprehensive range on offer and Austin's fine reputation for reliability - 'The Dependable Austin' no less.
This Austin started life as a Saloon, however it is unknown when it was converted into a tourer. Now offered with hood, frame, hood cover, tonneau and side screens. This charming converted tourer is fully operational and on the button.
It appears that the Austin was treated to a full interior retrim in 1990 and it has held up superbly well since. The engine also had a comprehensive engine rebuild in 2007 by JED Specialist Engine Building to the tune of £4,000. Unfortunately, there is little else in the way of history, but what we can confirm is that it has evidently been well cherished as it is in superb condition throughout.
