Sellers description
Alvis 1930 TJ 12/50 Tourer Special
Restored vintage Alvis with interesting competition history. Ideal for someone who wants a fully sorted vintage sports car capable of being used in modern day traffic conditions.
This Competition tourer was re-bodied in Aluminium with tubular steel sub-frame onto a shortened chassis in the 1940’s with parts owned by Dick Caesar ("Caesar Special"). The chassis was shortened by 12" to improve its handling. Over the years the car has also been fitted with later 12/60 features such as “Jelly Mould” wheels Twin SU carbs and headlights. It has extensive documentation and VSCC Buff Form paperwork.
The car has been extensively restored and improved over the period of my ownership and has competed in many Alvis Register events including a 300 mile leg of the Alvis Centenary Rally. I am only selling the car to fund the purchase of another restoration project.
NB. The car was re-registered in 1948 as was common practice at the time to reduce road tax.
