1928 Panhard Levassor - a phenomenal pre Second World War classic named Jezebel.

Panhard et Levassor were a French Automobile manufacturer, in fact they were one of the first in 1980, offering a range of vehicles, particularly six-cylinder models. They were known for excellent engineering and introduced the type X57, a six-cylinder model available with a limousine body by Janssen. These were produced between 1926 and 1931, known for its elegant open-body design and advanced sleeve-valve engine, which was a 3.4L inline six.

This particular example is an X57, with the chassis built in 1928, the body in 1929 and was finally exported to the UK and first registered in 1930, with registration GF17. This Panhard is presented in black with a red pin stripe and matching black interior. For over 40 years, in fact it is showing as 95 on the current V5, the vehicle was owned by Panhard Club historian, who loved the car.

The history folder for this is very extensive (a whole bag full!), with multiple photo books, various old MOTs and tax discs, and loads of information about this particular model, Panhard and the work that has been carried out on this vehicle. There is a written timeline of a renovation being carried out, starting in 1979. The vast amount of photographs featured in the history, show some of the renovation work that has been carried out to the vehicle of the years, one of which looks to be a colour change in the paintwork, from blue to the current black and red pinstripe it is presented in now.

The car itself, looks good, retaining historic charm. It looks to be very sound, with the 3.4 slide valve engine running very sweetly. The paintwork looks like a satin finish and compliments the vehicle well, the hood however, is good but the frame needs a small amount of repair. The interior of the vehicle presents very well for its age and the car even comes with a period correct fire extinguisher and some fantastic brass features (door handles etc), adding to the charm of this vehicle.

With all historic and classic vehicles, we encourage potential buyers to view the vehicle in person and make their own judgment. The team here at Barons, Marchwood, Southampton, will be happy to help and answer questions you may have.
