1927 Alvis TG 12/50 Three-quarter Coupe

Of the many varied styles of coachwork available on the Alvis 12/50, without doubt one of the most charming and comfortable was the Three Quarter Coupe (Also often referred to as a Doctor’s Coupe) This motor car, being a TG Series, is one such example and reputedly one of just six known survivors with this style of coachwork. Of aluminium construction by Carbodies, it sports a number of delightful period features, including a fully lined hood and spring-loaded windows. With the hood erected, the car is a cosy as a saloon, with a wealth of leather and mahogany in the cabin. The Dickey seat also provides considerable space for luggage and there is also a locker immediately behind the front seat. A luggage rack is also fitted.

Although the body has never been off the chassis, the car has been sympathetically restored a number of years ago, including a retrim in the original style. The hood and hood cover are both excellent and were fairly recent replacements. A vast quantity of bills etc are on file.

What is also most pleasing about this car is the remarkable amount of carefully documented history, which goes right back to the original build sheet through to the present day.

Shod with recently renewed Firestone tyres, the car has been regularly used in the current ownership, including trips to Angouleme and Normandy. As would be expected from a well maintained 12/50, ‘Alice’ as she is known, cruises happily at 50 - 55 mph and has the sensible additions of flashing indicators and power take-off for satnav.

To summarise, this is a delightful and extremely characterful Vintage Alvis that has benefited from much care over the years and is now eager to enter a new phase of her life.
